About Weekly Shonen Sunday

It all started in 1959 in Japan. That窶冱 when Weekly Shonen Sunday launched as a ground-breaking manga anthology magazine and established itself as home to some of the biggest names in manga history, including Osamu Tezuka, Shotaro Ishinomori, Go Nagai, Rumiko Takahashi, Mitsuru Adachi, and Gosho Aoyamato name but a few. In its fifty-year history, Shonen Sunday has published many of the greatest manga artists around and in the process strongly influenced and shaped the standard of what manga has become today.

And now there窶冱 something new that will change the way you read manga. After celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2009, Weekly Shonen Sunday kicked off a groundbreaking partnership with VIZ Media that includes: simultaneous Japan and US publishing, free online manga serializations, and the launch of the new Shonen Sunday imprint.

RIN-NE by Rumiko Takahashi is the first series in the history of manga to be serialized simultaneously weekly in Shonen Sunday magazine in Japan and online at www.TheRumicWorld.com, the official North American web site for all Rumiko Takahashi news. The first volume of RIN-NE is also the first manga to be published simultaneously in Japan and North America in October 2009.

VIZ Media has also established a new imprint for the series that come from Weekly Shonen Sunday. The imprint's website, www.ShonenSunday.com, will also house exclusive content such as online manga serializations and chapter previews from Shonen Sunday series; as well as trailers, articles, downloadable items and much more. Fans will be able to get official content on their favorite series and discover exciting new stories from Shonen Sunday on this site.

Look to Shonen Sunday for variety, integrity, and a new standard in manga excellence.
