This is a column, perhaps popular among some, where I answer reader's questions (although not all the time.) This time I'll answer the question, “Why does Kagome go to the Warring States Period wearing a sailor outfit?” A surprising number of readers ask this, so I gave it some thought. As I'm sure everyone knows, the sailor outfit is her school uniform. And what is the necessary function of a school uniform? You wear it all year round (though you probably have one for summer and one for winter, and you may have a spare for each), so school uniforms are sturdy and able to withstand multiple washings. They're quite amazing. At first, Kagome went to the Warring States Period in her regular clothes, but then realized she couldn't wear them anymore after they got dirty and ripped. Some of you might be thinking, “Well then, why doesn't she just go in her P.E. tracksuits?” But do you really want to see Kagome dressed like that? I don't! Please just understand that wearing her sailor outfit when she goes to the Warring States Period shows her way of being fashionable.
