Jimmy Kudo, the son of a world-renowned mystery writer, is a high school detective who has cracked the most baffling of cases. One day while on a date with his childhood friend Rachel Moore, Jimmy observes a pair of men in black involved in some shady business. The men capture Jimmy and give him a poisonous substance to rub out their witness. But instead of killing him, it turns him into a little kid! Jimmy takes on the pseudonym Conan Edogawa and continues to solve all the difficult cases that come his way. I'd LOVE to buy this series, but not with the altered names. I can only dream of the day I can get this unedited. That I would buy every volume. I just want the same option Bleach and Naruto readers get.

The reason I boycott VIZ is because they wont even offer the option of this series unedited. The DVDs have the option for both.

For snyone who asks, the reason wy they changed the names is because Gosho Aoyama requested (sad, but true). He thought the English names would "identify better with foreign fans"...hey, if genius case writers make mistakes every now and then. The manga has been doing an okay job with changes it makes to codes and stuff. Other than that, this anime is amazing and I really recommend, especially to mystery fans, but even to people who enjoy romance, comedy and action. ^_^

I think some people might like it BECAUSE of the decapitaion.... I personaly do like a little bit of gor in my manga

i think that most people would not like this at first because of the uh... decapitation and stuff... but the plot is rivoting and most of you wont be able to solve the mysteries
now onto the art,at first the hair on ran bugs mw but then it changes to a triangle,whats up with that? and heijis eyes, there supposed to be like angled up but in the end they look like eisuke's eyes, yeesh!
but if you reallly want my opinion you better buy every volume before the sell out!

I really believe this is a great series. In fact, it's one of the best ones I've ever read. The plot advances more and more after each chapter, the characters are fun and well developed, the artwork is amazing, and some of the mysteries still baffle me to this day. But it seems as though Viz is going to start releasing it less often, every three months instead of every two months. I think this series deserves much better than that, and I think Viz should be releasing it more often.

I like this manga very, very, very much and I hope that I can find both Case Closed and Hyde and Closer at a bookstore in our area.
However I'd really like to be able to purchase the Shonen Sunday Magazine here in the United States just like the Japanese can buy Shonen Weekly magazine in their country.

I agree, why change their names? It will just make the translation harder because some cases require their real name for the trick to work!
Also, some people's names are Japanese, some are English, some even have Japanese and English mix together!
I hope they change it right back, I hate the wierd American names!

Solid volume over all. Good translations though people from Osaka don't speak in Southern drawls. They're especially jarring for the reader at times. But great job Viz on no visible mistakes except Shuichi Akai's name spelled as Akagi.
In my opinion, with the decrease in volumes releases from 6 to 4 a year there should no longer be mistakes in releases. I ask readers to continue to buy the manga. It's the only way the quality will continue improving and someday see the real names in print.

I've loved this series since I picked up volume 1 in the 4th grade and since then whenever I come across enough money I buy a volume of this series. Kinda bothers me that the names got changed but still, I love this series so much, BEST MANGA EVER. Keep up the good work!

Case Closed lives up to it's first chapter title. Jimmy Kudo is a modern day Sherlock Holmes. Case Closed will always have interesting cases that you could solve (does not mean you ever will). Also the characters are some of the best you will ever find in a mystery series. I can not say enough about this hit series that is so interesting and fun.

I wonder why they changed the names of the people like Jimmy Kudo. Jimmy Kudos real name is Shinichi Kudo in Japanese. Or Richard Moore is Kogoro Mori. A lot of their names have been changed. Still. it is the best manga EVER!

Case closed is soooo awesome!!!I didn't think it was cool at first because the main character turns from a 17 year old to a 6 year old and solves cases.But when i picked up the first volume at the library,i was so hooked into it i couldent let it go!Case closed is not only the best detective manga i've read,but it is one of the best shonen sunday manga that i am reading right now! And i really recomend it to people who enjoy suspensefull stories!And i love case closed!

One of the most original series to ever run in Shonen Sunday, Case Closed may seem repetitive and slow when that is not the case. While the 1st chapter introduces 5 main characters, the cast quickly expands to 20+. It's the characters that drive the story forward alongside the plot. 65 volumes later the cast is still growing. But what keeps the series fresh is the cases themselves. The ability to jump back and forth in the series without being confused on the plot is appealing. Don't miss out!

Well the guy窶冱 head getting cut off was disgusting, but being a mystery manga, it could be very entertaining.... Not sure about it yet. You need to put up more chapters.
