Inuyasha
A half-human, half-demon hybrid, Inuyasha has dog-like ears, a thick mane of white hair and demonic strength. He assists Kagome in her search for the shards of the jewel, mostly because he has no choice in the matter窶殿 charmed necklace allows Kagome to restrain him with a single word.
Kagome
A modern-day Japanese schoolgirl who is the reincarnation of Kikyo, the priestess who imprisoned Inuyasha for fifty years with her enchanted arrow. As Kikyo's reincarnation, Kagome has the power to see the Shikon Jewel shards, even ones hidden inside a demon's body.
Kikyo
A village priestess who was the original protector of the Shikon Jewel. She died fifty years ago.
Shippo
A young fox demon orphaned by two brother demons, whose powers have been boosted by the Shikon Jewel. The mischievous Shippo enjoys goading Inuyasha and playing tricks with his shape-shifting abilities.
Miroku
An easygoing Buddhist priest of questionable morals. Miroku bears a curse passed down from his grandfather, and is searching for the demon Naraku, who first inflicted the curse.
Sango
A proud Demon Slayer from the village where the first Shikon Jewel was born. Her clan and family lost, she fights on against the demonic along with Inuyasha.
Kohaku
Kohaku was raised as a Demon Slayer like his sister Sango, but an arrow killed him in his first battle. A Shikon shard, put into his body by Naraku, keeps him barely alive and under Naraku's control.
Kirara
A small demon cat with two tails and Sango's companion. Kirara can transform into a huge, fierce and fanged beast that can fly, carrying wounded comrades to safety.
Myoga
A flea demon that has served two generations of dog-demons: Inuyasha's father and now Inuyasha himself. Although very small, he's tough and can even withstand being squashed.
Sesshomaru
Inuyasha's half brother by the same demon father, Sesshomaru is a pureblood demon who covets the sword left to Inuyasha by their father.
Jaken
A small toad-like demon that follows Sesshomaru around and does his bidding. Although arrogant he is weak and easily beaten.
Rin
A little girl who was killed by a wolf bite and later resurrected. She follows Sesshomaru.
Naraku
Naraku is the enigmatic half-demon mastermind behind the misery of nearly everyone in the story. An evil and conniving schemer, he can also transform his body into different guises. He has obtained nearly all of the shards of the Shikon Jewel and is trying to become a perfect demon by abandoning his human heart.
Kagura
Kagura was produced as a doppleganger from part of Naraku's body. However, her heart remains inside of Naraku. If it is damaged, Kagura suffers in the same way and cannot defy him. From amongst the many demons inside of Naraku, Kagura inherited her abilities from a demon that controlled the wind.
Kanna
She looks young, but Kanna was produced as Naraku's first doppleganger. Kanna uses a mirror given to her by Naraku to trap souls. Although a demon she has no demonic aura allowing her to enter purified holy places. She has no feelings and simply follows Naraku's orders.
Hakudoshi
Naraku produced him at Mount Hakurei. He seemed to be the embodiment of Naraku's heart, but his essence is a mystery. He was born in the form of an infant but was divided in two by a monk's spiritual power. One half matured rapidly while the other disappeared...
Moryomaru
Although indirectly created by Naraku, Moryomaru is his enemy. He gains power by devouring other demons.
Byakuya
Naraku's final servitor, created to replace Kagura.
Koga
Leader of the Wolf Clan, Koga is himself a Wolf Demon, and because of several Shikon shards in his legs, possesses super speed. Enamored of Kagome, he quarrels with Inuyasha frequently.
Lady Kaede
Kikyo's little sister, now and old woman and leader of the village. She cast the spell on the necklace that allows Kagome to control Inuyasha.
Totosai
Quirky (some might say crazy) maker of swords窶杯he genius behind both Tetsusaiga and Tenseiga.
