1 thing, it dosnt look cool, i dont like mermaids, and its a meremaid manga. and it dosnt look cool. good bye."
Can I say IDIOT? Talk about judging a book by it's cover. Mermaid Saga isn't *just* about Mermaids...It's a horror story based on a Japanese legend about eating a mermaid's flesh. And these "mermaids" are Butt Ugly to boot. Pure bakemono (monsters). It's a facinating tale, and little dipweeds should read into things before they diss them like that.

Love it! Rumiko Takahashi is one of the best manga artists alive (Yuu Watase is awesome too! XD) Mermaid Saga, filled with suspense and mystery, with the gift (or curse) of immortality, it leaves us wondering of all aspects of never ending life...

I think that this manga is filled with mystery, suspense, and horror, but it is really intersting. It is one of Rumiko Takahashi's older works, but it is a great story. too bad the story doesn't fully end and it puts you in great curiosity, but I recommend this manga, especially if you like this type of mystery manga. Mana also falls for Yuta soon, but she is confused about it. You also meet Yuta's older love interest and it is sort of intersting how naive Mana is about the world and love.

I love Rumiko Takahashi's works. Especially the older ones. I own all her works published by viz. But my favorite show and manga is Urusei Yatsura, I think you should release it. Now that more people are interested in manga than in 1989, I think you should try to release it.
Great

I'm so glad to see that Mermaid Saga is getting more attention! I'm a huge fan of Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, Inuyasha, and Maison Ikkoku, but I love Takahashi's lesser known works, and Mermaid Saga is probably my absolute favorite. You really get to see her stretch her creative wings here...the darker tone that's only hinted at in most of her works really sets the story off, and the artwork's just fantastic.
Great

At first before reading chapter 1, I wasn't into this series, but now I like it. Also I think VIZ Media should try releasing Urusei Yatsura again, but under the SS imprint, it would be a good idea. Especially with Rumiko Takahashi's works becoming more and more popular outside of Japan. And some people like me want to see it brought back into print, even if at the time of the release like me didn't know about the series.

The first story, 窶廣 Mermaid Never Smiles窶 tells the tale of Yuta, a man on a relentless search for a mermaid, and his meeting with Mana, a girl with a mysterious past whom he encounters during his quest. 窶弋he Village of the Fighting Fish窶 takes place in the long ago past where Yuta and Rin deal with the pirates of Sakagami island. Then in part 1 of 窶弋he Mermaid Forest,窶 Yuta and Mana become separated during their travels and come across the inhabitants of a forest who crave mermaid flesh.

窶弋he Mermaid Forest, Part 2窶 concludes the story begun in Volume 1. In 窶廛ream窶冱 End窶 while traveling in the mountains, Yuta and Mana are caught in a landslide. Discovered by a local hunter, the immortal Yuta awakens in the middle of a service for the dead. Yuta asks about Mana窶冱 whereabouts and the hunter tells him that Mana is no longer alive, and about a monster that lives in the mountains. In the last story in this volume, 窶廴ermaid窶冱 Promise窶, a woman Yuta had feelings for 60 years ago who he thought was dead turns up alive. What窶冱 the connection between her, the mermaid窶冱 ashes, and her fiancテゥ?

In 窶廴ermaid窶冱 Scar,窶 Yuta and Mana meet a young boy who is traveling alone looking for his mother. They run into the boy again a few years later and learn about his terrible secret. 窶弋he Ash Princess窶 takes place 120 years after Yuta first ate the flesh of a mermaid. While searching for the mermaid flesh that will restore his body to its normal condition, he encounters an old man and his daughter, Natsume. The old man is the proprietor of a traveling sideshow that claims to sell mermaid flesh. The mermaid flesh is fake but somehow Natsume has the same healing powers as Yuta.

In 窶廴ermaid窶冱 Gaze窶 Yuta hears about a ghost that has appeared in the mansion where he used to live and goes with Mana to investigate. There they meet a man who looks like Shingo, who died in a double suicide with his older sister years ago. The final story, 窶廴ermaid窶冱 Mask窶 takes place in a seaside town where Yuta and Mana meet a boy whose wounds heal instantly when he takes a powdered medicine.
